People are more and more interested in environmental and health aspects of different products – mostly cosmetics and beauty products, but also cleaning products, food, cookware and other product groups. However still interest dominates over real life actions and value-action gap is to still studied and more answers found, but policies shall be better adapted to this as well. Therefore this paper intentions are twofold. The first, to start next round of investigations in order to better characterize consuption situation in Latvia and the link between people’s environmental awareness, behaviour and environmental impacts. Importantly, the second, to do preparations for all necessary guidelines for policies to be developed at every management/planning level and involving all stakeholderds, and, particularly, developing complementary four steps of application of sustainable consumption communication instruments – information, education/training, participation and sustainable consumption behaviour. Research findings show that people are concerned about environmental problems and many people are willing to do a bit more to limit their environmental impact. Yet people may not always be aware of the environmental impacts of behaviour related to their consumption patterns and the environmental benefits of changes in these behaviour. When dealing with household behaviour it is important to remember about non-linear process and to address symbolic and social dimension of consumption as well.", address = "51 Al.
