ACOUSTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF CONCRETE SLABS

Abstract:
This article presents preliminary results of research into the acoustic insulation of internal concrete slabs. The analyses were designed to answer the question whether concrete slabs—as a material commonly found in architecture—can also serve as an element that improves acoustic comfort in the room. Concrete is a building material that is being consistently used in architectural spaces, not only as a structural element, but more commonly as a decorative element in the form of lining. Theoretical studies indicated that the use of concrete slabs of 5 cm thickness, interchangeably with a dedicated plaster, increases theoretical properties of internal walls considered in the study by an average of 6 [dB].
