ST. JOHN THE CHRYSOSTOM „AMBASSADOR OF THE POOR"

Abstract:
The first Christian centuries are full of holy personalities, who by their preaching and charitable activities marked and modeled Christian society. Among them are: St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory of Nazianzus, St. Anthony the Great, St. John Chrysostom. Owner of a vast classical culture by studying law, philosophy and rhetoric, John of Antioch, will be known in the fourth century, Chrysostom (in some cultures Gold Mouth) as a result of his oratorical talent. The suffering and hardships of the poor those times, do not leave the Saint indifferent. As a result he seeks to change the concept and to raise the awareness of the souls of those who ruled the destinies of the communities where he was to preach. All his life, he took the poor defense, as a debt of honor, therefore, the Saint called himself "an ambassador of the poor” In his sermons he constantly reminds us that charity towards the fellow, should be made until his difficult situation improves. St. John Chrysostom said that charity makes man wiser. "Such wisdom is contained in the words of Solomon: He who has pity on poor lends to the Lord (Sol.19,17)!. Here's an unprecedented loan! We give to someone and we get back from someone else ... "
