Abstract:
Taking the international university cooperation between German and Russian universities within the Strategic Partnership Program as an example, the paper highlights the main characteristics of the concept of strategic partnership, presents and analyses the structure, content and also mechanisms supporting the effective and sustainable development of strategic partnerships between universities. The work also includes recommendations for the development of strategic partnership programs. The further group of recommendations concerns the management and communication within the strategic partnership. It is highly important to appoint a coordinator at each university who will be responsible for the communication between the institutions as well as within the respective university. Besides, it must be pointed out that initiation, development and implementation of a strategic partnership is a complex, labor- and time-consuming task that requires highly qualified and motivated personnel and additional funding.
