- Abstract:
- Nowadays the world development is characterized by application of various practices that manipulate human consciousness. Cultural diplomacy of the Soviet Union was one of these practices. Its analysis involves the search for research programs and application of various epistemological schemes that enable us to obtain and form ideas about this phenomenon. The choice of a cognitive method is ontologically determined by the nature of philosophical knowledge and requires addressing the socio-cultural context of the corresponding time. Science has proposed a great number of cognitive practices, among which the hermeneutical experience occupies a special place. Being shaped into the theory of understanding and interpretation, it helps reveal deep meanings of different phenomena through conversion of formal signs and symbols into the language of meaningful knowledge. Numerous texts of the subject of cultural diplomacy clearly demonstrate the main soviet ideologemes, which the Communist Party strove to inculcate into the mass consciousness of not only its country but also the whole world. Therefore, cultural diplomacy appears to us, first, as a specific reflection of social reality, mediated by signs and symbols of secondary "reading" of the analysed time period and, second, as a designer of social reality in public and individual consciousness.
