ON METHODS AND RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH OF THE HISTORICAL DEMOGRAPHY PROBLEMS (EVIDENCE FROM THE REPUBLIC OF SAKHA (YAKUTIA), RUSSIA, 1939-1959)

Abstract:
The author discusses certain aspects of the research work dedicated to the historical demography problems, as well as the research results: population size of the Republic just before the war (based on the materials of the “repressed” census of 1937) and after; the causes of an exceptionally high mortality rate among the population far behind the lines; the number and “structure” of deportees in Yakutia (among deportees were "ex-wealthier peasants", Poland, East-country, Georgia citizens, the Germans, the Finns, the Russians and others) etc. The author give conclusion that climate factor and geography speciality came info grocery situation of population in war years. Death rate of Yakutia was very high, in 2 times higher than in other regions of Siberia and Ural and in 2, 2 times higher than in RSFSR (not fool dates). That's why we can say that we have sensitive north nature, sensitive history of Yakutia, its population. By calculation author can say that population of Yakutia without war will be higher in 1/3 times.
