ABSTRACT

Method: Data were drawn from a 2 wave (3 year) longitudinal study of the health and development of around N=1459 Romanian nationally representative sample of adolescent and young adults. Findings: Overall, satisfaction with life was lower than West European averages and similar to Eastern European averages on SWLS scale. LS in young adults, was predicted by self-esteem, optimism and illusory optimism about the future. Satisfaction with depended more on self esteem but this effect was partially mediated by positive illusions and social support.
