ABSTRACT
Digital technologies penetrate deeper into the lives of almost all developed societies. Along with their expansion, the importance of digital and media literacy is constantly increasing. The important thing is also to remember the ethical aspects. The article deals with ethical aspects of media communication, specifically emphasizing the ethics of electronic communication, its rules and moral aspect of the issue. The author researched the knowledge, current status and level of implementation and compliance with the rules of netiquette in cyberspace. The issue of this research was solved through a quantitative questionnaire method, in which a self-constructed questionnaire was primarily aimed on primary school pupils. The target group was selected intentionally, because we realize that the age limit of using new media and technologies and communication through them is still declining. In addition to knowledge-based questions related to the rules of netiquette and appropriate behavior in a virtual environment, the questionnaire contained several questions in which respondents were asked to place their own reflection on the extent of the internet usage or source of knowledge in this field. Internet is now a natural part of life, especially of children and young generation. Nevertheless, research includes respondents, who do not use this medium at all, what we consider as one of the most exciting results. The most successful answers of respondents were the right definition of the terms netiquette, spam or correct form of the electronic address. The least correct answers were recorded in the question concerning the definition of the concept of emoticon. Research showed the most common mistakes the students made during their time in cyberspace. Today children are often referred to as the digital generation, therefore one of the main objectives of this research was to provide an overview of the compliance with the courtesy rules and etiquette in the electronic environment. The research results show that it is still necessary to pay attention to the ethical aspects of the internet space and emphasize the importance of ethical behavior, not only in the real but also in the virtual world. To fulfill the facts above, it is therefore appropriate to include the issues of netiquette in a wider range, for example in the warp of media education for children and young ones, which aims is to shape and establish a media literate individuals.
