ABSTRACT
Individual psychic properties including temperament properties determined by individual features of the nervous system play a significant role in junior children adaptation to the environment. The available term “adaptation range” originates from assessment of functional system capability to change its characteristics to provide homeostasis during adaptation processes including the change of behavioral modes.
Therefore, we studied the adaptation responses and conditions of organism on the basis of peripheral blood WBC differentials in junior schoolchildren with different temperamental feature manifestation. Junior schoolchildren with different temperament type specifics were found to have various adaptive conditions on the basis of the index of behavioral expression and index of stability of behavioral stereotypes. The junior schoolchildren with temperament characterized by low behavioral manifestation (“calm”) and sufficient flexibility of behavioral stereotypes (“flexible”) show higher non-specific resistance and adaptive responses judging by the WBC differential data, which provides for their organism functioning normally in comparison to the children with higher behavioral activity and lower behavioral flexibility.
In this regard, our results verify the recent suggestions that the temperament relates to individual differences of behavioral and physiological system excitability and also to behavioral and nervous mechanisms of response modulation.
Keywords: temperament, adaptive responses and conditions, psychosomatic relationship, non-specific resistance, junior schoolchildren.
