GENDER FEATURES OF DISTANCE LEARNING IN EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES

ABSTRACT
Higher education is one of the main aspects in socialization process of any State. Important parts in system of higher education are subject contents, teaching manner and organization of study process itself.
Scientific research has shown us that teaching manner and relations formation with teaching audience affects gender socialization of students. Recent scientific data indicates capability of knowledge perception and further application of knowledge which shall be considered as important individual human characteristics.
In practice, taking into account gender and individual characteristics of student and providing comfortable conditions for acquiring knowledge is possible way of learning for institutions using distance learning. This is reason of following research – to study gender differences during learning processes, computer skills proficiency level, study process evaluation and determination of preferences for knowledge assessment.
Survey interview was held among social science students and engineer students within distance learning program. More than 800 students from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Serbia and Belarus participated in this research.
During research has been noticed several student differences while choosing study methods, way of communication with tutors and other gender variations in the process of learning. Acknowledgement of following variations will be useful in development of effective teaching methods.
