ASTRACT
The representative contemporary Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare is one of the most distinguished writers who takes into the consideration with a special interest the history and the fate of Arberesh people. The history, perhaps the tragic one, of the Arberesh from the time of Scanderbeg which is connected inseparably to the history and fate of Albanians later on.
Therefore, his literary trait is very interesting and from the artistic point of view is realized in an excellent manner containing horrendous and emotional images. This massive Arberesh exodus, which is placed mainly on the land of the king Alfonse of Naples. It is like the second homeland of Arberesh placed beyond the sea, like a second European motherland.
As a first highlight, or as a starting point for a new life, as a referential point, the author emphasizes the thrilling story, “Notes from the Port captain hood”, which derives from the author’s imagination to make this story artistically alive.
These powerful imaginary notes that are introduced as meaningful short stories written in the form of a diary reflect on the Turkish invasion and surge on this part of Europe. With all these dramatic under plots, it is understood that this is the time after the death of George Castriot- Scanderbeg , when massive migrations are more frequent, followed by dangers, risks, struggles and continuous tragedies.
The author narrates calamitous events through the notes of a clerk who works at the Italian coast. Events that affect him, events that are transformed into a continuous wail, a massive disaster, that of Arberesh, but of the author himself as well.
