The microstructure of a dictionary defines a combination and relationship of all the lexicographic microparameters reflected in a dictionary entry. In this paper we describe the analysis of 63 printed and 75 online dictionaries of architecture and construction for detecting how these dictionaries’ microstructure reflects the parameters included in the system of lexicographic microparameters developed by the authors, also we carry out matching the frequency of reflecting the microparameters in the analyzed dictionaries of the two types. The study revealed substantial differences for certain parameters in the microstructure of online dictionaries relative to that of printed ones. In comparison with printed dictionaries, online ones have significantly lower frequency of reflecting the group of lexicographic microparameters that represent extralinguistic means of fixing and showing information, i.e., tables, charts, histograms, diagrams, drawings and photographs, as well as the group of microparameters related to reflecting the grammatical paradigmatics of a terminological lexeme, revealing the syntagmatic relations of a lexeme through standardized contexts, reflecting the derivational links of a lexeme and disclosing such word aspects as grammatical, orthoepic, functional-stylistic and areal-attributive; on the other hand, there is an appreciable increase in frequency of using color as extralinguistic means of fixing and showing information. We discuss the reasons for changes in the microstructure of online dictionaries relative to that of their printed predecessors as well as the influence of the revealed changes on functional efficiency of online dictionaries. Then we make proposals for further improvements in the microstructure of online Russian dictionaries of architecture and construction. At
last we draw the conclusion that the microstructure of online dictionaries has a positive effect on increasing the efficiency of lexicographic information and user-friendliness of search for it, also that there are some tool set capabilities of the online dictionaries under consideration not being used yet in improving their microstructure.
