ABSTRACT

The text deals with the current phenomenon, ie the process of increasing representation of the number of women in the armed forces, both in combat and non-combat units. The process of engaging women in military operations is not a very modern phenomenon; the feminisation of the armed forces has been manifested in modern armies during the WWII. At that time, however, it was primarily conditioned by the need to supplement the insufficient standard male element in the mass army based on the conspiracy model, especially in supporting roles. At present, however, there is a growing presence of women in relatively limited professional armies or actively struggling paramilitary formations, often without regard to the position of women in society and their traditional roles in various civilizations. The current feminization of the armed forces is due to many reasons and the text seeks to describe the main causes of this phenomenon and the impact this trend has on the form of contemporary armed conflicts and military missions. The different impact of feminization on the potential of modern armed forces of state and non-state actors is also characterized, and the social and cultural reasons and implications of this process are described.
