ISSUE OF PERSONAL IDENTITY AND ITS EXPLICATION IN IMAGE-TEXTUAL NARRATION BOY WITHOUT NAME BY SLAVKA LIPTAKOVA AND FERO LIPTAK
ABSTRACT
Issue of personal identity, i.e. personal uniqueness of an individual in its dynamics, is widely discussed and has become interesting also for artistic literature in the 21st century. The authors of the paper in the introduction briefly clarify concept of identity from philosophical, sociological and psychological aspect. The essence of the paper is focused on analysis and interpretation of image-textual narration Boy without name by the writer Slavka Liptáková and the illustrator Fero Lipták. The authors examine literary, linguistic and fine-art elaboration and expression of the personal identity issue in the given work of art. In the process of interpretation of image and language particularities of the text and its relation to illustration those constructive elements of the work of art are reflected, which most markedly contribute to explication of personal identity as a human problem. In this sense we focus on profiling of literary character, types of sujet conflict and the ways of its development, chronotop of the text, type of chosen narrator, occurrence and function of personal deixis and aesthetic and poetological aspects of visualisation of the narrative. Data obtained on the basis of interpretation of the text, viewed from afore-mentioned perspectives, are generalised in the conclusion of the paper.
